When people use this
- A phone camera app saves photos as .jpeg and a form wants one PDF.
- Pages of a receipt, a contract or homework were shot one by one and need to travel as a single file.
- A scanner app gave you a folder of JPEG pages instead of a PDF.
What a test showed
- Three 12-megapixel JPEGs (4000 x 3000), 629 KB each, made one PDF of 1.97 MB.
- One of those JPEGs on its own gave a 659 KB PDF.
- The pictures are saved again at 92% quality when they are placed, so the file stays close to the size of the originals.
Test numbers come from synthetic files, so real files will differ. Treat them as a guide.
Limits
- Each picture is fitted on an A4 page with white margins, so the page shape does not follow the photo.
- Photos keep their pixels, so a PDF of many large photos can be big. Run Compress PDF afterwards if there is a size limit.
- Sizes use 1 KB = 1,000 bytes.
